EMDR Intensives
Focused trauma therapy in 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day formats. For when you're ready to stop circling the same old pain and actually move through it.
Is weekly therapy just not cutting it anymore?
You've done the work. You understand your patterns. You can explain exactly why you react the way you do. And yet, your body still hasn't gotten the memo.
You don’t have the time for weekly therapy sessions
Weekly therapy asks for the same hour, every week, for months or even years. Between work, family, and everything else on your plate, that hour keeps getting pushed. An intensive gives you set-aside time to focus on healing, instead of squeezing it into the cracks of your week.
You're ready for deeper, more focused healing
In a 50-minute session, you're just starting to open up when it's time to close back down. Then you wait a week to pick it back up. An intensive gives your brain enough time to stay with the hard stuff and actually work through it.
YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
An EMDR intensive can help you make the kind of progress in a few days that might take months of weekly therapy.
What is an intensive?
An EMDR intensive is EMDR therapy in a focused format. Instead of meeting for 50 minutes once a week, we meet for longer blocks of time over one to three days. It's the same evidence-based therapy, with a lot more room to work.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain process painful memories that got stuck. The memory doesn't disappear. It just stops hijacking your nervous system every time something reminds you of it. Research shows EMDR in an intensive format can work as well as weekly sessions, in far less time on the calendar.
My EMDR intensives in Broomfield, CO are built around you. Along with EMDR, I bring in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and the Flash Technique when they fit what you need. That might mean slowing down to get to know a protective part of you, or using Flash to take the edge off a memory before we process it.
Intensives can also be a great fit for neurodivergent brains. As a late-diagnosed AuDHD therapist, I know how draining it is to warm up, switch gears, and shut back down every single week. An intensive lets you settle in and stay there. My office is set up with sensory needs in mind, and you never need permission to take a break, grab a fidget, or move your body.

Pre-Intensive Assessment
Before your intensive, you'll fill out a few intake forms. Then we'll meet for a 90-minute session to go over your history, your goals, and what you want to focus on. This is also when we start building your treatment plan.

Intensive
Session
Each intensive day runs about 6 hours. We work in three 90-minute blocks, with a lunch break and as many smaller breaks as you need. You'll also have a workbook to help you prepare ahead of time and reflect as you go.

Post-Intensive Follow-Up
Healing keeps happening after you leave my office. We'll meet for a 60-minute session one week later and again one month later. These check-ins help you make sense of what's changed and plan your next steps.

It's the same evidence-based EMDR therapy, just in a different format. In weekly therapy, part of each session goes to catching up and settling in, and then we have to wrap up before things get too raw. During an EMDR intensive in Broomfield, CO, we have hours instead of minutes. That gives your brain time to stay with a memory long enough to fully process it, without a week-long pause in between.

EMDR intensives can help with trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. That might mean a single painful event, like a car accident or assault, or trauma that built up over time. Intensives can also help when anxiety keeps you stuck in worry, panic, or feeling on edge.
Because we work in longer, focused sessions, an intensive can be a good fit if you feel stuck in weekly therapy or want relief sooner. During your free consultation, we’ll talk about what you’re facing and whether an intensive makes sense for you.

Intensives work well if you have complex or single-incident trauma, feel stuck in weekly therapy, and want to make real progress in less time. They aren't the right fit if you're in a current crisis, in an unstable living situation, or actively misusing substances. In those cases, weekly support is usually a safer place to start. We'll talk through fit together during your free consult and assessment.

Each day is about 6 hours. We work in three 90-minute blocks, with a lunch break and smaller breaks whenever you need them. Most of our time goes to EMDR, and I bring in IFS and the Flash Technique when they help. Snacks, drinks, weighted blankets, fidgets, and other tools are within reach the whole time.

Yes. Many intensive clients keep seeing their regular therapist. With your permission, I'm happy to coordinate with them before and after your intensive so your care stays connected.

I am an out-of-network provider, and insurance usually does not cover EMDR intensives. However, I can provide a superbill for your 90-minute preparation session and your two follow-up sessions. A superbill is a receipt you can send to your insurance company to ask for possible reimbursement. Check with your plan to see what out-of-network benefits you may have.

Before your intensive, you’ll fill out intake forms, including a dissociation screening. This helps me understand your needs and plan our time together safely.
You’ll also complete some pre-work in the Intensive Workbook and practice a few grounding skills at home. These skills help you feel steady during and after our sessions, so you can get the most out of the work. I’ll guide you through what to practice and why.
